As I said before each community has its own look and feel below I have written a little about some of our favorites.  With this many unique beach communities, there are lots of things to do in South Walton!


Inlet Beach:  Inlet beach is the perfect place for pretty much any beach/ water activity. The town has lots of fun pastel beach cottages on cobbled stone streets and a wide open view of the gulf.  It also has the largest public beach access in South Walton complete with restrooms and water fountains.


Rosemary beach: Rosemary beach has a more European feel than a beachy one. Long cobblestone streets overhung with balconies and vegetation you will think you stepped right into either Italy or new Orleans. The town has wide open green lawns in the center with a central quart yard where you can rent bicycles, shop, or sit down to enjoy some of their amazing cuisines. Be sure to take a stroll after dark and visit the many restaurants that are strong with lights and feature live music in the evenings. There is definitely something to be said for dancing under the stars with a cool ocean breeze blowing against your cheeks.

Alys Beach: continuing west on 30A you can't help but notice the majestic giant white butteries on either side of the street. Congratulations you have just entered Alys beach! For a moment, you might actually think you are in a Mediterranean oasis which is exactly how you are supposed to feel. The white stucco walls and lavish architecture are a marvel in themselves. Combined with turquoise waters and white sandy beaches makes it a must see bucket list quality item.  Keep scrolling to see more things to do in South Walton.

Seacrest: Seacrest in known for its relaxed beachy feel. It's a great place to lounge on the beach the entire day and taking a few dips in the ocean. It also has some quirky boutiques and incredible food.


Watersound: Watersound is a premier gated community nestled between camp creek lake (one of several rare dune lakes in South Walton) and deer lake state park. It boasts many beautiful luxurious 3 story beach cottages and a gorgeous nature walk. 

More Things To Do In South Walton


Seagrove: Seagrove has a little of the old Florida mixed with the new. Here new beaches house stand side by side with older quaint beach cottages giving it a unique eclectic vibe. There are lots of restaurants and boutiques to visit. If you want to get out and explore point Washington state forest has 27 miles of hiking trails and 7 different ecosystems to see. It also has 2 coastal dune lakes deer lake and deer lake state park. The park is 1,920 acres and has beautiful hiking trails and an incredible board walk that takes you over ancient sand dunes and out to the gulf.

Seaside: Seaside is full of small town charm and is the perfect place to truly get away from it all and just relax. It has a chic casual feel that manages to be both simple and modern. 


Watercolor: Watercolor is a resort community next to Seaside. It has a AAA award winning hotel, World class dining, stunning views, a butterfly garden and many biking and hiking trails. It also has gorgeous nature walks,  a boat house and butts up to Western Lake which is another of the rare dune lakes in South Walton. 


Grayton Beach: One of the oldest and most historic of the South Walton beach communities Grayton beach is the laid back classic southern beach town of everyone's nostalgic dreams. It's full of charm and beautiful oak lined streets. If you are looking for something to do there outside of the beach visit Grayton Beach state park or Western Lake. Both offer numerous eco-adventure opportunities.


Blue Mountain Beach:  Named after its wild blue lupine flowers and large mountainous sand dunes Blue mountain beach is another great area to get out and explore nature. Go hiking in the cypress swamps or bike the Timpoochee trail. Blue mountain is another community that connects to the point Washington state forest which also provides numerous hiking and biking opportunities. And don't forget about the gorgeous white sandy beach and turquoise waters.


Gulf Place: The newcomer of the scenic 30A communities Gulf Place has incredible food and shopping, a great music scene, and a town center complete with an amphitheater. If you enjoy the arts they even have their own artist colony. 


Dune Allen: For those who love to eco explore and get out into nature the community of Dune Allen is just your kind of place. Three of the rare coastal dune lakes Oyster lake, Lake Allen, and Stallworth are located here along with Topsail state park. The lakes are something that is not just rare for the Untied States but the entire world and offer numerous chances for rare nature and wildlife studies. You will definitely want to come see what makes this place so rare and special. It is one of our favorite things to do in South Walton.


Sandestin: Sandestin is the only community in south Walton that has a marina and a very large fishing fleet. If you want to go deep sea fishing or any other kind of fishing this is definitely your place.


Miramar Beach: This community is full of classic beach town charm.  It is also home to Silver Sands Premium Outlets the nation's largest designer outlet mall.


I have covered only a small portion of things to do in South Walton, and I hope you will add it to your list of future places to visit. As you can see part of what makes South Walton so special and unique is it really does have something to offer every type of person that makes a point to visit here.
